How to keep it honest

RevPASH only means something when every input covers the same scope. A 60-seat dining room open for 5 hours has 300 available seat-hours. With $12,000 dine-in revenue, RevPASH is 12,000 / 300 = $40.00. Change the room or the period and you change the answer.

  • Same scope only. If patio was closed, remove those seats and hours.
  • Counter + patio: calculate separately or note you included them.
  • Closures: don't average closed hours as $0 — shrink hours.
  • Off-premise: keep takeout/delivery out of dine-in RevPASH. Use profit calculator for margin on that mix.

RevPASH = Revenue ÷ (Seats × Hours)

$12,000 ÷ 300 = $40.00

Keep going

  • How RevPASH works + boundaries — formula, worked example and scope rules for closures and channels.
  • Margin on that revenue — see whether gross profit and menu mix carry the business. Example pattern: gross $28k at 70% and net $2.4k at 6% on $40k sales.
  • Fix the mix — classify Stars, Plowhorses, Puzzles and Dogs with action steps.

Turn seat-hours into profit

RevPASH shows how hard the room worked. The profit calculator shows what the revenue kept after food, labor, occupancy and overhead.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between RevPASH and revenue per table?

Revenue per table ignores seat count and time. RevPASH accounts for seat count + time, so it compares capacity use across dayparts and rooms of different sizes.

Should I include bar or counter seats in RevPASH?

Only if you keep the same scope note. Otherwise calculate bar and counter separately so the seat-hours match the revenue you included.

Does this RevPASH calculator save my numbers?

No. It runs browser-only with no signup, and the figures you enter stay in your browser.
